Stephen Whelan
About
Stephen Whelan is a PhD student at CWRU specializing in the formation of political parties, education, and intellectual history during the Early American Republic. He also focuses on modern American history, U.S. foreign policy, and U.S. War History. Stephen’s experience as a military veteran and former high school teacher places him in a unique position to offer a multitude of perspectives that contribute to his fields of study. Outside of academics, Stephen remains busy at home with his wife, a 1-year-old, and a 4-year-old toddler. Stephen’s passion for history and laser-focused work ethic have made him a valuable asset to CWRU. If you see him around, he would love to chat about anything related to history or politics!
