Elena Fernandez was born in Asturias, Spain. She graduated from Cleveland State University with an M.A in Spanish. Since 2000 she has been teaching courses in elementary and intermediate Spanish and in Spanish conversation and composition, at Case Western Reserve University. She also developed two new courses: Spanish for Health Care Workers and Spanish for Business. She has also taught at Cleveland State University, Lakeland Community College and Lake Erie College. At Lake Erie she taught Medical Spanish in the program of Translation for the Community.
Elena has been the advisor for Sigma Delta Pi at Case Western from 2003 to 2012, and also has participated and organized different activities for the Spanish section.
