About
Dr. Koester is curator of research at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. She is responsible for evaluating and coordinating all scientific research projects that focus on improving the management and care of all species housed at the Zoo. As adjunct assistant professor in biology, she serves as an advisor to graduate students performing research at the Zoo. Her primary research interests include vertebrate reproductive physiology and endocrinology as well as physiological and behavioral indicators of welfare of animals in zoos. Specifically, improving welfare and reproductive potential of species in zoological institutions, improving assisted reproductive technologies, and establishing better methods of pregnancy detection in carnivores.
